Yesterday Rohan rolled over from his back to his belly for the first time. He rolled to the left despite working on rolling to the right for the two previous days. I was out of the room when it happened, of course. Lucelia was there with him and I asked if she saw him roll. She said, "Well, I tried to help him, but my hands couldn't do it. He was too heavy." So, I think he rolled over on his own, but we'll never know. He does have a set of rock hard abs, so if he didn't, he certainly will soon.
On another note, Lucleia said to me today, "Nicole, you are a great Mamma." What a wonderful thing for a Mamma to hear.

Uncle Ken
My Uncle Ken passed away the morning of July 4th. He was diagnosed with cancer about six months ago and chose not to fight it. I think it is quite fitting he died on Independence Day. Ken was a strong spirit and athlete who experienced great pains and joys in life. Born in Estonia, Ken excelled in sports and planned to participate in the Olympics for his country when the events leading up to World War II stole his mother and his opportunities away from him.
Uncle Ken eventually made it to the U.S. and married my dad's younger sister Ruth. I remember visiting their Queen Anne home whenever my family came to Seattle for fun or a medical procedure. Uncle Ken always had fresh doughnuts for us when we were young and an anchovy and a shot of vodka when we were adults. He was a man of the world and our world is a little empty without him. We will miss you Uncle Ken.

Over the Rainbow
We went to Lisa and Jimmy's house yesterday. Brogan, Lucelia, and Rourke were out on the deck eating popsicles. Brogan and Rourke began arguing, so I went out there and had a conversation with Brogan about how special family is and how it is important to take care of each other and be on the same team. Brogan said, "Well, can you stay out here with us because we can have trouble." Lucelia responded, "Troubles melt like lemon drops."
